The memorial focuses not only on the life and work of the two literary greats, but also on folklore and local traditions to which both brothers had a close relationship and often used in their work.

Due to the planned reconstruction works at the castle, the museum is divided into the Zdeněk and Jan Svěrák Film Exhibition and the Fairytale World of Zdeněk and Jan Svěrák.

It displays everyday objects as well as unusual tools and instruments, such as a lever or crank washing machine or the Razum family's unique stamping machine. One room is dedicated to Count Camillo Razumovsky.

The town museum in the old town hall on the square in Úpice offers a permanent exhibition on the life of the Čapek family in Úpice, a gallery of paintings by Julia Winter Mezerová, an ethnographic exhibition, a collection of weapons and fragments from Vízmburk Castle. The Municipal Museum also operates the NKP DřeveĚNKA from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries.
