We operate the administrative office of the Archives and Records Service, directly managed by the Ministry of the Interior. We deal with the performance of state administration. We also carry out professional activities and tasks in the field of archives. We ensure the protection, control, registration or storage of archives.

Collecting and preserving historical documents that bear witness to the past of the metropolis of the Czech Republic from the Middle Ages to the present. We focus on pre-archival care, acquisition, registration, processing and access to archival materials.

We provide pre-archival care and shredding services in the area of our operation. We focus on the processing, recording and accessing of archival records. We preserve archival units documenting the development of Czech literature from the end of the 18th century to the present.

We carry out activities related to the control of the performance of the filing service. We ensure the acquisition of an extract or copy of archival material and the verification of copies made by the archives. We specialize in the reproduction of archival materials by electrographic copying and digital reproduction. We make it possible to confirm the conformity of a copy with its original.

We take into archival care and preserve archival materials arising from the official and professional activities of the National Library, the holdings of other institutions, the personal holdings of eminent persons and collections. The fonds and collections are sorted, organized, inventoried and catalogued.

The archives provides pre-archival care and shredding procedures in its area of competence. It processes, registers and makes available the archives stored. We preserve the written heritage for the present and the future and have a wealth of material of cultural and historical significance, building on its predecessors.
