We organize astronomical observations for the public and programs for schools in the form of excursions or multi-day stays combined with night observations. We operate an observatory, which has a telescope with a diameter of 500 mm and a spectroheliscope with image transmission to a monitor. The observatory has a receiving station for geostationary and polar meteorological satellites. We receive images from Meteosat geostationary satellites and NOAA polar satellites.

We run an observatory. We organize shows and provide information about objects in the starry universe. We mainly focus on thematic lectures for primary and secondary schools. We also organise Astronomy Days and thematic lectures four times a year. We run an astronomy club.

We organize solar eclipse expeditions, offer astronomical information and observe comets, meteors or the moon. We offer courses in mirror grinding and building astronomical telescopes.

The Institute is devoted to research on fruit crops grown in the Czech Republic as cash crops. We also focus on the conservation of the gene pools of fruit crops, the study of the effect of rootstocks on grafted varieties, the development of methods of biological and integrated conservation of fruit trees and fruit planting projects.

The Hydrobiological Station, which was established in 1924 in the building of the former farmhouse by Prof. Karel Schäffern, is a detached workplace of the Faculty of Science. Its establishment was a continuation of Prof. Fritz's "flying" station founded in 1988, which was one of the oldest such stations in Europe.

Our main objective is research and transfer of high-tech technologies into medical, industrial and environmental practice with a strong emphasis on the Centre's involvement in international networks and consortia.

We operate a scientific paleontology center. The aim of this Centre is to collect information from the Palaeozoic era relating to geology, statigraphy, localities and taxonomy.
