The museum is housed in the baroque building of the original Piarist schools, known as the scene of Alois Jirásek's Philosophical History. It offers a modern exhibition on the history of Litomyšl with archaeological excavations in situ, a number of unique objects and a rich children's program. It organizes short-term exhibitions.
The birthplace of Bedřich Smetana is located in the ground floor of the former castle brewery in Litomyšl, where the composer was born in 1824. There is a new exposition which will introduce you to the life and work of our most famous composer in a classical and multimedia form.

Exhibitions of paintings, photographs and graphics are held in the museum gallery, and exhibition openings and concerts are held in the former chapel of St. John of Nepomuk.
