The birthplace of Bedřich Smetana is located in the ground floor of the former castle brewery in Litomyšl, where the composer was born in 1824. There is a new exposition which will introduce you to the life and work of our most famous composer in a classical and multimedia form.

The Art Nouveau photo studio tells the story of the beginnings of photography, the turbulent fate of the pioneers of the craft and the photographic chronicle of the Czech-German-Austrian borderlands of the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. The monastery was founded in 993 by Prince Boleslav II together with Bishop St. Adalbert. The original structures were Romanesque. The church’s 11th-century crypt has been preserved beneath the Baroque Basilica of St. Margaret. The Baroque complex was built between 1708 and 1745 according to a design by Kryštof and Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.

After Špork's spa and residence began to grow on the left bank of the Elbe in Kuks, the opposite, right bank was chosen as the site for the future institution.
