The museum is housed in the baroque building of the original Piarist schools, known as the scene of Alois Jirásek's Philosophical History. We are a contributory organization of the Moravian-Silesian Region, combining the mission of a regional museum and the administration of monuments, which are important immovable cultural monuments of northern Moravia - Bruntál Castle, Sovinec Castle and the mowing plant in Karlovice in Silesia. The museum is located in the Bruntál castle.

We operate the Royal Mint Museum. The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the history of Jáchymov, examples of the mineral wealth of the Ore Mountains, silver mining with a moving model of mining activity.

We operate a museum of the Easter railroad. There are exhibits of track mechanisms, writings, three-dimensional exhibits and parts of the railway superstructure. The exhibition is in both Czech and German.
