The Institute is devoted to research on fruit crops grown in the Czech Republic as cash crops. We also focus on the conservation of the gene pools of fruit crops, the study of the effect of rootstocks on grafted varieties, the development of methods of biological and integrated conservation of fruit trees and fruit planting projects.

Organisation of scientific seminars and conferences for users of the results and the wider public. We take care of the all-round development of the individual disciplines of soil science and of the scientific field as a whole in relation to related disciplines. We promote the practical applications of soil science in agriculture and forestry.

We are engaged in research and development in the field of composition of milk and dairy products, new methods to determine chemical, microbiological, physical and chemical and sensory parameters and properties of milk and dairy products.

Carrying out inspection of the technical condition of milking equipment, operational noise and dust measurement, consulting on the design of dairy cow stalls. Focus also on design and assessment of biofuel production, consulting for biogas plants.

The emphasis is mainly on innovative approaches in cattle breeding, possibilities of using and improving the quality of breeding products, possibilities of using forage from permanent grassland for feeding and energy purposes, etc.

The Research Institute is responsible for the advancement of knowledge and the transfer of knowledge in the sciences of soil conservation, complex land reclamation, pedology, landscape formation and use, and informatics related to these disciplines. It carries out soil and water analyses, operates the SOWAC-GIS geoportal, produces maps and provides data.
