The department's teaching and research focuses primarily on the development of the field of technology for crop production. Gradually, this focus is being extended to include technology for complex landscape restoration and maintenance. It offers Bachelor and Master studies in Agricultural Technology.

Offering courses of study with a focus on economics, management and computer science. Department of economic theories, economics, humanities, information engineering, information technology, languages, business and finance, psychology, law, management, statistics and systems engineering.

The Department provides teaching of horticultural subjects for the three-year professional Bachelor of Horticulture, teaching in the continuing Master of Science in Production Horticulture full-time degree program. In addition to theoretical teaching, considerable attention is paid to practical teaching in greenhouses.

The mission of the faculty is to educate foreign and Czech students in the fields of tropical and subtropical agriculture, rural development and sustainable management of natural and energy resources in the tropics and subtropics. It offers studies in bachelor, master and doctoral degree programmes.
