The faculty offers a three-year bachelor's degree and a two-year follow-up master's degree within accredited two-degree study programmes to interested students. The faculty has 10 departments, computer application laboratories and central development workshops.

The department's research activities include projects affecting, in addition to current forestry problems, the restoration of forest ecosystems in anthropically heavily stressed and degraded conditions, as well as the dynamics of natural and near-natural forest development.
