More than a thousand students study at the faculty, of which mainly students of master's and doctoral programmes are regularly involved in creative activities and the implementation of their own research activities. We are located in one of the buildings of the Faculty of Philosophy and Natural Sciences of the Silesian University in Opava, which was reconstructed for the needs of artistic disciplines with a focus on film and theatre production.

Brainfitness (BF), also loosely translated as "brain training ground", is primarily a variety of wooden, metal and string puzzles, logic and strategy board games, various puzzles, ciphers and cryptic codes, but also popular educational lectures for primary and secondary schools and the general public.

The Institute provides teaching of the Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and Social Policy in the form of full-time and combined studies, which is accredited until 2020. The follow-up Master's degree in Public Administration and Social Policy can only be studied full-time.
