The institute provides teaching and scientific research activities in the field of statics, dynamics and reliability of building structures. It offers teaching of subjects focused on structural mechanics, statics, elasticity and plasticity, non-linear and fracture mechanics.

The institute provides teaching in the fields of Construction Realization, Construction Management and Construction Materials Engineering. It is focused on the areas of construction process technology, construction machinery and mechanisation in construction, pre-production and production preparation of construction, planning and management of construction implementation.

The institute provides teaching of basic physics courses in engineering and undergraduate studies within the scope specified by the curricula. Doctoral studies are also offered. It provides and organises the study of Physical Engineering, which has two specialisations: engineering optics and advanced physics technologies.

The studio teaches students to perceive graphic design as a search for new forms of visual communication in a world of information explosion.

The laboratory is engaged in research and development activities in the field of engineering and metallurgy.

The studio studies the forms of entry of the artwork into the environment and the influence of the environment on the language of art. Study is conducted in terms of working on collaborative and individually commissioned projects.

Operation of computer laboratories, local and faculty computer network, servers and information system. We cooperate with the Centre of Computer and Information Services of the BUT and we also participate in a number of activities. We manage electronic mail, websites and virtual studio networks.

The institute provides studies in management informatics. We provide training for professionals in the field of information systems and information technology. We target the segment of small and large companies. The study focuses on IT disciplines, mathematical disciplines and disciplines of economics and management.

The institute provides compulsory and non-compulsory teaching of foreign languages (English, German, Russian, French) for bachelor, master and combined studies. It also provides language training for PhD students in the above-mentioned languages. The classrooms of the Institute of Languages are fully equipped with multimedia equipment.

The institute provides teaching of social sciences and foreign languages for students of Brno University of Technology. Every year it organizes intensive Czech language courses EILC for foreign students in the Erasmus programme. It provides teaching in bachelor, master and combined studies. It offers psychological counselling to students.

The Institute provides teaching of independent study programmes in Geodesy and Cartography and subjects related to Geodesy for civil engineering majors. It also carries out scientific activities and research, consulting and training activities in the field of geodesy and cartography, measurement of displacements and deformations of buildings.
