It deals with the fundamentals of pharmacology, research and development of pharmaceuticals as well as quality assurance of technological processes or design and optimization of industrial apparatus.

The institute provides training in the field of milk and fat technology. Teaching focuses on microbiology, chemistry and technology of tensides, detergents and cosmetics. It provides consultancy in applied microbiology, milk, oil, fat and dairy technology. It publishes professional publications.
