We are engaged in scientific research of plasma physics and its applications. We are involved in research and development of controlled thermonuclear fusion, use of electric discharges, plasma generators, interaction of plasma with other states of matter and waste disposal in plasma streams.

We carry out research in elementary particle physics, condensed matter systems, solids, optics and plasma. We carry out research work in the field of elementary particles in the framework of large international collaborations. We are involved in astroparticle physics. We work on the interaction of laser radiation with matter.

We focus on research in the field of physical chemistry. We specialize in the development and application of quantum chemistry methods in chemical physics, catalysis and electrochemistry, synthesis and structural chemistry of nanoscopic materials, mechanism of catalytic and electrocatalytic processes, sorption and transport processes.

We provide cybernetics and computer science research. We conduct basic and applied research in computer science, signal and image processing, image recognition, systems theory, and control theory.

The main activity of the Oriental Institute of the CAS is scientific research in the field of Oriental studies. We focus mainly on the history of the peoples of Asia and Africa, as well as on their religious and philosophical systems, culture, languages and literature from antiquity to the present.

Engaged in theoretical and experimental research in the field of solid mechanics with a focus on building structures. We focus mainly on structural dynamics, stochastic dynamics, aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, nonlinear mechanics and mechanics of materials.

The institute is mainly focused on history in the period from the early modern period to the Second World War. It conducts basic research in the field of Czech, Czechoslovak and general history and is part of a network of domestic and foreign scientific, research and higher education institutions.

Laboratory collecting inorganic materials. Collaborates with domestic and foreign departments and publishes scientific publications. Researches melting processes and their modelling, special glasses for photonics and materials for dental applications.

We run an institute conducting research on problems of interaction between natural processes and human activity. We work on geochemistry, engineering geology, composite and carbon materials, seismotectonics, structures and material properties. We organise training courses, talks and professional congresses.

Teaching and practice of growing crops in a greenhouse. The greenhouses are used for specialized departmental teaching, for student practice, for departmental research and for undergraduate and graduate thesis research. The department also provides various biological material for the needs of various theoretical courses of the faculty.
