The department is concerned with issues of structural and functional properties of agroecosystems, understanding the biophysical influence, studying the impact of agrotechnical practices including their optimization in terms of production and other functions of agroecosystems in order to achieve long-term sustainability of their functions.

Validation of new methods, technological procedures and quality assessment of pork.

The department provides physics teaching for all faculties of the Czech Technical University. In the field of research, the department's activities are traditionally oriented towards the application of physics, in this case to agriculture and food processing. Here the properties of materials and products, including their structure, are mapped in great detail.

The department provides courses that are interdisciplinary in nature. They focus on technological and logistical problems. They provide the knowledge needed in the management of quality care of machines and production, in the management of maintenance and renewal of machines, in the design of buildings and technological processes for servicing machines.

Teaching and research in plant and animal genetics with applications in breeding. The department provides extensive teaching at undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels.

The station serves as an experimental facility for the departments of crop production, forage and turfgrass science, agrochemistry and plant nutrition, agroecology, and biometeorology. Grants, research projects, bachelor, master and doctoral theses are carried out at the station.

Plant experiments and their subsequent presentation. Operation of an experimental station used for research and teaching purposes. Research activities are focused on three themes - variety trials, technology trials and organic farming.

Teaching hydropedology, soil physics, surface and soil hydrology, hydrogeology, agricultural water management and aquatic natural resources. The department teaches courses focusing on the relationship between soil and water and rock and water, water resource issues, their exploration, utilization and management.

The department covers a wide range of subjects in microbiology, biotechnology, pedobiology, animal nutrition and feeding, human nutrition, dietetics with feed science.

The department offers teaching of morphology and physiology of farm animals as part of basic biology courses. Among specialised subjects, it provides teaching in zoohygiene and disease prevention. In the field of research, the department focuses on the physiology of gametes of farm animals, using a pig model.
