The Institute is a research centre of the Faculty of Social Studies, cooperating with eight European universities in Finland, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, the UK and other affiliated members across Europe.

The department trains future English language teachers for all types of schools. We offer the possibility to study Bachelor, Master and Doctoral programmes in English Language, English Language and Literature, English for Translation Practice or English in Business.

The institute provides instruction in pharmacology and clinical pharmacology with a focus on laboratory testing methods. We provide undergraduate teaching with a focus on Examination Methods, Physiotherapy, General Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic.

The department provides instruction in Romance Studies with a focus on the history, culture, realia and dialectology of Francophone countries. We offer undergraduate courses in French Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, French in Business, and other undergraduate and graduate courses.

The Department of Clinical Neurosciences consists of the following 4 departments: the Department of Neurology, the Department of Child Neurology, the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Psychiatry. Teaching takes place at these departments within the teaching of the subjects Neurology, Child Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

The institute provides teaching of several basic theoretical and preclinical disciplines at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava. The concept of the multidisciplinary department is based on its historical study activities, when it mainly provided teaching in biological, biochemical, biophysical and microbiological areas.

The Department provides teaching and research activities in the Department of Pathology and the Department of Emergency Medicine and Forensic Sciences. We offer the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree courses in Social Pathology and Logistics of Field Risk Situations or in Paramedic.

The institute provides training in nursing for general nurses and midwives. We offer the opportunity to study Bachelor's degree courses in Midwifery, General Nurse or follow-up Master's degree courses in Nursing Care in Geriatrics, Nursing Care in Pediatrics and other doctoral courses.

The department provides teaching of social pedagogy and preparation of teacher education students with a focus on leisure and re-socialization. We offer the possibility of full-time and combined studies in Andragogy or Pedagogy and a follow-up Master's degree in Teacher Education.

The department provides instruction in the technology of all printing processes with respect to creative endeavors, technical skill and talent. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Printmaking and Drawing.

The Department guarantees and organizes education within the study programs Social Policy and Social Work. We offer the possibility to study full-time or combined on the Bachelor's degree in Social Work or the Master's degree in Social Work and Management of Social Work Service Organizations.

Teaching is aimed at training soloists, professional accompanists, members of chamber ensembles or orchestras and teachers of all levels of art schools. We offer the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree in Harpsichord and Piano or the follow-up Master's degree in Piano.
