The department provides instruction in Czech literature, literary studies, and art history. We offer the possibility of studying Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in Czech language and literature or Master's degree courses in Czech language and literature, teaching for secondary schools.

Department provides teaching in physical geography and geoecology. We offer the possibility to study Bachelor's degree in Conservation and Landscape Design, Physical Geography and Geoecology, Cartography and Geoinformatics or Master's degree in Modelling in Environmental Geography and Doctoral degree in Environmental Geography.

The Institute provides teaching of war surgery and disaster medicine to students of general medicine. The teaching of disaster medicine is carried out in weekly cycles with theoretical teaching of medical management of the consequences of emergencies and disasters as well as practical teaching.

The department is the focal point for national and international grant programmes and was established to develop project activities at the Faculty. With the support of the Project Department, FSS OU handles a wide range of projects, both in the field of grant titles and contract research.

The Centre was established primarily as a platform for collaboration of academics involved in pedagogical research at the Faculty. Pedagogical research is understood in its full breadth, i.e. including research in the areas of established pedagogical disciplines as well as research on major topics in pedagogy.

The institute provides teaching of several basic theoretical and preclinical disciplines at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava. The concept of the multidisciplinary department is based on its historical study activities, when it mainly provided teaching in biological, biochemical, biophysical and microbiological areas.

The department educates students in the fields of art history, cultural history and the history and conservation of industrial heritage. The research activities of the members of the department are focused on general art history, art of the region, heritage conservation, sustainable development of industrial heritage and publicity of cultural heritage.

The Centre focuses on research on linguistic phenomena characteristic of English and German professional language and on research on professional discourse. The areas of research are the linguistic specificities of English and German technical, economic, scientific and medical texts and their comparison with English.

The Department provides teaching and research activities in the Department of Pathology and the Department of Emergency Medicine and Forensic Sciences. We offer the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree courses in Social Pathology and Logistics of Field Risk Situations or in Paramedic.

Department provides education in internal medicine. We provide instruction in pediatrics, neurology, dermatology, infectious disease medicine, geriatrics and psychiatry.

The department researches theories of social work and social policy as well as the social context of global environmental problems and issues of the state. We offer the opportunity to study for a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development or Health Social Worker.

The department provides instruction in Romance Studies with a focus on the history, culture, realia and dialectology of Francophone countries. We offer undergraduate courses in French Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature, French in Business, and other undergraduate and graduate courses.
