The study focuses mainly on the early and high Middle Ages, the Moravian Neolithic and the application of computer technology in archaeology. We carry out field research dealing with site studies using GIS or interdisciplinary studies.

The subject of the institute is processes and phenomena involved in the organization and functioning of living cells, tissues and organisms. It also focuses on molecular diagnostics and taxonomy of microorganisms or genetics.

Teaching specialises in the history and theory of Czech literature, children's literature or the didactics of Czech language and literature.
