We operate an institute focusing on materials engineering, risk engineering and diagnostics. We offer bachelor, master and doctoral studies including lifelong learning. We have a testing laboratory for testing concrete and mortar mixtures or quality investigation and assessment.

The department provides a three-year bachelor's degree and a two-year master's degree in editing, focusing on film, video, TV and new media. It prepares future professionals for editorial composition in the full range of audiovisual media and with respect to new computer technologies.

The field is concerned with computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence theory and cybernetics, cognitive science, neuropsychology, philosophy, linguistics and life sciences including medical sciences.

Teaching in forest establishment and cultivation. The department's research activities include projects affecting, in addition to current forestry problems, the restoration of forest ecosystems in anthropically heavily stressed and degraded conditions, as well as the dynamics of natural and near-natural forest development.

The Institute provides expert, educational and scientific research activities in the field of traffic accident analysis and the development of new procedures and methods for use in expert practice. The Institute deals with the fields of transport, engineering and economics. It organises professional courses, seminars and debates.

The department provides instruction in international relations and European studies with special emphasis on the analysis and theoretical aspects of the issues studied. Graduates of the course can find employment in a number of professional fields such as analytical workplaces or research and teaching in universities.

We operate a department focused on the design of processors, embedded control computers and computer communication systems. We develop programs for special digital devices. We provide instruction in computer structure and architecture, circuit design practices, and real-time systems.

Teaching English and German.

The department has two sports halls or sports complex and provides teaching of physical education and sports. It organises sports competitions within and outside the university, and encourages student participation in the Czech Academic Games and Academic Championships. The sports facilities include a shipyard.

The institute provides education in management, marketing, social sciences, production management and logistics. It guarantees an accredited Bachelor's degree programme in Economics and Process Management and a follow-up Master's degree programme in Business Management and Economics. It provides students with internships.

Offering studies in mining engineering, economics, mineral industry management, waste disposal, information systems management, commercial engineering and environmental engineering.

The Centre profiles itself as a research institution of the Departments of Education for Citizenship and Music Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava and develops one of the priority directions of research at the Faculty of Education under the title: culture - identity - region.

The institute provides teaching in the field of agro systems and bioclimatology. There is a herbology laboratory, agrometeorological stations, field experiment station or biological-physical and chemical laboratory.
