The Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology provides teaching, scientific research, expertise and medical activities. We provide teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses in occupational physiology and ergonomics, special investigative methods in occupational physiology, diseases of civilization and nutritional physiology.

The department provides teaching in psychology and social work. We offer the option of single and double major in Psychology or a follow-up double major full-time course in Teaching Psychology for Secondary Schools.

The department provides professional training for teacher education students. It offers the possibility to study Bachelor's degree programmes in Education and Social Pedagogy or a follow-up Master's degree programme in Social Pedagogy.

The Centre profiles itself as a research institution of the Departments of Education for Citizenship and Music Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava and develops one of the priority directions of research at the Faculty of Education under the title: culture - identity - region.

The SIMLEK Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ostrava has the same equipment as a real hospital. There is medical equipment and parts of pre-hospital care.
